Many organizations overlook the SAP user off-boarding process, even after employees have been disabled in Enterprise Identity Management tools. Business Resiliency has evolved over the period of last 30 years.  During the 1990s the focus was to preserve data using backup technologies by backing up and moving to offsite for recovery during a disaster.  Next during the early 2000s, with the improvements in storage and network technologies, online replication became the standard to achieve the RPO and RTO SLAs for the business.  Next came the Public Cloud Providers who made the business resiliency completely transparent to the businesses.  However, even with all these changes and improvements the monolithic ECC systems running on-premises had some technical challenges.  The biggest challenge was due to the number of end points (both internal and external) that created challenges when the systems failed over to alternate data centers.   B2B VPN configurations, Firewalls for internal and external traffic depended on the IP address of the system that would change when failed over to another data center.  Logical change at the DNS will help few applications but will not help the firewall and B2B configurations. Southwest Gas has been engaged with their SAP BTP CSP since 2023 with a goal of adopting the SAP BTP products that they feel give them the most value. The SAP S4 RISE - Brownfield Migration and Role Redesign with Optimized FUE project aimed to modernize and optimize the existing SAP system roles, which had been in place for over two decades. This initiative was driven by the need to move to SAP S4 RISE, align roles with current user positions, integrate new Fiori applications, and manage SAP licensing counts effectively.
